THE FIVE Ps OF MENSTRUAL HEALTH

The “Five Ps” of menstrual health is a framework that emphasizes key aspects of maintaining menstrual hygiene and overall well-being for individuals who menstruate. Here they are:

1. PAD/Product:

The type of product you will use to pad yourself is very important for good hygiene during periods. before many women will use sanitary towels however the hygienic conditions were not very good. Today we have sanitary pads which are very clean and is used once thus saving us from the stress of recycling. other products that exist are tampons and menstrual cups.

2. PALMS

During menses we have to keep our hands clean by washing them when we want to pad, when we want to remove the pads and after removing the pads. with dirty hands we can introduce bacteria in our reproductive system.

3. PAIN

Menstrual flow comes with some mild degree of discomfort and pain on the lower abdomen and lower back. however, most women can tolerate this pain. however, should the pain come unbearable, we have to visit a doctor.

4. PAPER

Paper here refers to how we dispose of our pads, usually you have to wrap in a biodegradable material and discard in a dustbin. please it is advised not to flush them down the toilets as they can block the drainage system.

5. PERIOD BETWEEN PERIODS

Once you finish menstruating, we have to live healthy until the next period by eating a balance diet and having regular physical exercise. This helps to keep us healthy and prepare us for next flow.
